Golden Milk Recipe

Golden milk, also known as turmeric milk, is a warm and comforting beverage made with turmeric and other spices. Delicious and soothing, golden milk offers potential health benefits due to the anti-inflammatory properties of turmeric. Relax and unwind with a warm cup of golden milk and your favorite book, movie, or music.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup almond or oat milk
  • 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp teaspoon ground ginger (or freshly grated ginger for a stronger flavor)
  • A pinch of black pepper (to enhance the absorption of curcumin - the active compound in turmeric)
  • 1-2 tsp honey or maple syrup (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp coconut oil (optional, for added richness)

Instructions

  • In a small saucepan, combine the ground turmeric, ground cinnamon, ground ginger, and a pinch of black pepper. Adjust the quantities to your taste.
  • Pour the milk into the saucepan with the spices. Warm over low to medium heat. Stir gently to combine the spices and milk.
  • Heat the mixture until it is hot but not boiling. Be careful not to overheat to avoid scorching the milk.
  • Add honey or maple syrup to taste.
  • If desired, add coconut oil for a creamier texture and added flavor. Stir until the oil is fully incorporated.
  • If you prefer a smoother texture, strain the golden milk to remove the remaining spice particles using a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth.
  • Pour into a mug and enjoy this while it’s hot. If desired, sprinkle ground cinnamon or nutmeg, or add star anise on top to garnish.

Cheers! Golden milk is healthy, nourishing, and easy to make for one or a crowd. Add a warm and cozy feeling to any relaxing break with a mug of golden milk.
