Chicken Crust Pizza
Enjoy this filling, low-carb alternative to traditional pizza crust. Substitute dairy free cheese for allergies or intolerance to dairy.
Ingredients
Ingredients for the Chicken Crust
- 1 pound ground chicken
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
Ingredients for the Toppings
- 1/2 cup tomato or marinara sauce
- 1 1/2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
- Your favorite pizza toppings (turkey, pepperoni, bell peppers, onions, olives, mushrooms, spinach)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Mix everything together until it forms a uniform dough.
- Place a piece of parchment paper on baking dish or pizza stone. Place the chicken crust mixture in the center of the parchment paper.
- Using your hands, flatten and shape the mixture into a round or rectangular pizza crust about ¼ inch thick.
- Bake the chicken crust in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until it’s cooked through and slightly golden on the edges.
- Remove the crust from the oven and increase temperature to 450 degrees.
- Spread tomato sauce evenly over the crust, leaving a small border around the edges for the crust.
- Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella on top of tomato sauce.
- Add your favorite pizza toppings. Be creative!
- Return pizza to oven to bake for an additional 10-12 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and slightly golden. Note that non-dairy cheese does not melt well so watch for other toppings to heat and soften.
- Remove pizza from the oven, slice, and serve.
Pizza is so much fun to make at home, plus, you can enjoy all your favorite toppings. Try it with ground turkey, too.
